A Day in the Life of a Compass DC Agent

Lifestyle

Have you ever wondered what a day in the life of a Compass DC real estate agent looks like? If your answer is yes, you’re certainly not alone. From client meetings to late-night negotiations and so much more, a Realtor’s routine is as unpredictable as it is fascinating. So, even though there’s no such thing as a “typical” day for any Realtor, we’re giving you an inside look into the Friday of one of ours. Read on to follow along with Marc Ross — Senior Vice President of the Jenn Smira Team at Compass DC — as he goes about a day in his real estate-driven life!

5:45 AM/6 AM: Blinds up: rise and shine! Typically, I’m a lucky man with coffee waiting for me downstairs as my husband is awake before me these days!

6 AM – 7 AM: Empty dishwasher, refresh the dog bowls, make our dog’s breakfast, and head upstairs to make our bed. Gotta make your bed everyday during Covid to keep things (somewhat) normal! 🙂

7 AM: My husband is on the morning dog walk shift. He strolls to the Washington Monument with Honey Bear. In the meantime, I jump start my emails at 7 AM with a goal of keeping the unread / task emails down to around 25 so I can really get moving at 9 AM.

8 AM: Prepare a comparative market analysis and listing presentation for a potential new listing in the Woodley Park Area. A great best address building. Appointment Saturday confirmed.

9 AM: Spend the hour mostly on client care and follow-up in between calls with our Marketing Director, Tanni Rednor, at work.

10 AM: Conference call with our design agency to talk through a listing presentation revamp for 2021, as well as some big-picture JennSmira.com website ideas.

10:30 AM: Quick 10 minute-call with clients to discuss final offer decisions on a home in Capitol Hill.

10:40 AM: Shower and change. Running late today — not ideal!

11:00 AM: Call with a potential new developer client. Texting Jenn Smira from a VA closing to plan our development meeting in Dupont / West End for Noon.

11:40am: Headed out the door while on a call with a past client / friend.

11:50 AM: Call with a current client on a new listing in Columbia Heights. Receive signed listing paperwork back and pass along to our listing manager star, Tanni Rednor, to start processing on her end.

Noon: Arrive at the new development in Dupont / West End. Meet with the developers, who are interviewing top agents in the area.

1:30 PM: Jenn and I both head back to our home offices. Miss the Compass DC 14th street office! Catch up on missed calls, texts, and emails from my car office.

2:00 PM: Lunch! This is also typically my work out time on Fridays, but the day went sideways so rescheduling for personal time.

2:30 PM: In Zipforms and Docusign prepping an offer for the Capitol Hill buyers.

3:00 PM: Offer sent!

3:00 – 4:00 PM: More catching up on emails. Grateful for my team, Ashley Cobb, Tanni Rednor, and Shelley Patel for keeping it moving at all times!

4:00 PM: Review an inspection response and report from a buyer’s agent on one of our new developments in Logan Circle. Track the scheduling of final walk-throughs, closings, seller settlements, buyer settlements, etc. by Ashley Cobb. She’s amazing!

4:30 PM: Feed our Honey Bear dinner!

5:30 PM: Friday wind down. Evening with the dog, more work calls, and some catching up with friends and family!

6:00 PM: Dinner preparation & TV time.

7:00 PM: Dinner and husband time.

8:00 PM: A standard Corona Netflix night. Currently watching the Sinner together! Eeek.

9:00 PM: That’s a wrap!
