Best Coffee Roasters In DC

Lifestyle

Whether your kids have recently returned to school or you’re busy fighting back the end-of-summer blues (or both), it helps to think of fall as a fresh start, a time to settle back into your routine. And what better way to re-energize for the coziest season ahead than by stocking up on DC’s best beans?

Keep reading for our favorite coffee roasters in DC for fall!

#1 Dua Coffee: Dua Coffee DC is the first international location of the Jakarta-based company, located just blocks from the White House. Inside, the cafe is bright and stylish with white brick walls, pendant lights, and dark wood floors. Exclusively featuring Indonesian brews, the team behind Dua Coffee relies on local businesses Nagadi Coffee and Vigilante Coffee Company to roast. The goals? To showcase the diversity of flavors from the many regions of this multi-island nation. They also feature a few cafe drink specials and treats on the menu from their home country!

#2 Swing’s Coffee Roasters: For over 100 years, Swing’s Coffee Roasters has been supplying coffee to the DC area. This storied roaster still sells its original Mesco Blend, which was patented in 1918! The company has traded hands a few times since then but is still run by passionate coffee experts. If you are interested in vintage coffee goods, the G Street location houses original fixtures and equipment from the company’s early days. As a local institution, it’s worthy of mention in even the most contemporary coffee guide.

#3 Compass Coffee: It was during their time in the Marines that Compass Coffee founders first got into coffee; it became a ritual for them as they were stationed and then deployed in Afghanistan together. Since then, Compass has created an easy-to-understand flavor matrix — so that customers with any level of coffee knowledge would be able to pick the right one for them. An added bonus? Most of their blends are also named after DC neighborhoods for an extra shot of local pride.

#4 Slipstream: The founders of Slipstream started off on completely different career paths (in finance and nursing) before deciding to focus on their shared love of coffee, cocktails, and food. Their goal in starting Slipstream was to help the customer cut through the noise of the quickly increasing number of options and jargon out there and simply provide the best products in town. We’ve seen the all-day cafe serving breakfast time and time again, but Slipstream is switching things up by also specializing in cocktails, creating an atmosphere that evolves as day transitions into night.

There’s nothing better than enjoying a hot cup of coffee at home. If your fall plans include buying a new home, check out our featured listings right here or book a consultation with our team to get started.
