A Home With History: 644 5th Street Northeast
Buying
At The Jenn Smira Team, we strive to be more than just realtors to our clients. We’re advisors who offer guidance, advocates who never back down, and friends who are always there with a shoulder to lean on—long after the deal has been signed. In fact, we’re often there for our clients through it all—from their purchase of a first home, to the decision to downsize years later. We love being a part of the lives our clients are leading, helping them to navigate each new milestone with ease, and sharing in the memories that are made along the way. As a result? We have the experience and stories to show for it. At the center of one of these stories is 644 5th Street Northeast, a house that’s been in the JST family for over 20 years.
The Story Behind the Home…
In 1999, Shelley Gold, one of our very own JST agents, represented the buyers who moved into this historic 4 bed, 2.5 bath Victorian in Capitol Hill. At the time, the buyers (two brothers) were moving to DC to start a new chapter in their lives—one at a DC law firm, and the other at Georgetown to earn his MBA. After a few years, the brothers enlisted Shelley’s help again, this time, to sell. Entrepreneurs at heart, they were seeking a fixer-upper they could transform with their own two hands. So, the brothers moved into a nearby home with more space and room for improvement. But they never fully left 644 5th Street behind, either. In fact, its owner prior to them actually became their new home’s newest tenant!
When the brothers were looking to sell once again, you can probably guess who they called: Shelley. In fact, since the brothers’ original home purchase in 1999, Shelley has sold one of their investment properties, helped their sister-in-law find a home, and helped their father-in-law buy and sell multiple properties—to name just a few. She’s also been there as each of the brothers settled down, got married, and progressed in their careers. But as you may have guessed, that’s not where this story ends. Fittingly, this one comes full circle, back to where it all started: 644 5th Street Northeast.
Listed today by Marc Ross and Jenn Smira at $1,249,000, this Capitol Hill home is truly one-of-a-kind, and we are so excited to find its newest owners—and the newest members of our ever-growing family.
